2026 SPRING COURSES
Korean Language Instructor
With more than 20 years of teaching experience, I focus on the structure of the Korean language, so that students learn how to form proper Korean sentences. I taught Korean at Vancouver Community College and later, I moved to Langara College in Vancouver where I spent 14 years teaching all levels of Korean as well as pronunciation and listening. As language courses have been discontinued at Langara College due to Covid-19 in 2021, I made my own online language school (ALK).
I provide daily assistance on Kakao Talk, so my students can have more opportunity to practice beyond the class.

Here's what some of my students have to say
Never too old to learn a second language. I work full-time and despite not having as much time as I would like to devote to learning Korean, I am pleased with the progress that I have made. The classes are a nice balance of speaking, listening, grammar, and reading. Choon-hee has tremendous patience, wonderful sense of humor, and a good way of explaining things. For people of all ages, who are interested in learning Korean, I would wholeheartedly recommend learning with Choon-hee.
I began my Korean language learning at the time of pandemic and am grateful for the opportunity to learn from 선생님 and with all the classmates along the way. The courses are engaging and cover aspects of listening, writing, reading, speaking, and applying. I appreciate 선생님’s genuine care and support for us during and after class, from giving feedback, providing notes and resources, being available to answer questions, to encouraging us to try what we can on our learning journey.
Choon-hee is an excellent teacher who always has time to answer questions, find additional material and encourage students. Classes are always fun and engaging with a clear structure. I probably would not have continued studying Korean if I had another teacher.
When I first met 선생님, I already took 2 beginner Korean courses at a college but I could not understand a single word from the teacher. I noticed that other students that had taken the same beginner courses with 선생님 were miles ahead of me. I then realized that a good teacher can make such a big difference. 선생님 is very passionate with her work and she really wants her students to excel and be fluent in the language. 선생님 is very interactive with the students in class and truly makes learning “Fun”.
Learning Korean was fun but good teachers were hard to meet. I was very thankful that I met 선생님 after being taught by 3 different Korean teachers. When I left Canada in 2018, one thing that I was so sad about was that I could no longer learn from 선생님. However, thanks to the pandemic, I can learn from her again online. 선생님 is the best teacher I’ve ever met.

If you have taken a course before, you can email to explain what you’ve learned then the instructor will advise you.
In the event one has to miss a class I advise students to contact a classmate to ask them to provide notes or information about what was missed. I also advise students to make a study group with other classmates to assist each other.
